Easter Art in Riccione
Easter is approaching and the City and the hotels of Riccione are preparing to accommodate the many Italian and foreign families which decide to enjoy its hospitality and the services to the tourists that characterize the Green Pearl.
Saturday 15 Mars 2008, proceeded the inauguration of the Easter initiative wanted by Pantòs Association and the Town hall of Riccione: The Last Dinner of Sand.
It acts of a sculpture made entirely of sand, which represents the last dinner of Jesus Christ, sitted around a table surrounded of its Apostles, “before dying and reappearing for our safety”.
The ceremony saw the participation of the Bishop Monsignor Francesco Lambiasi, the Mayor Imola and the several Assessors.
More than two hundred people and three parishes took part in the event. T
his year the sculpture measures 12 X 9 meters, four times larger than the construction of 2007, it has been prepared inside a tenso-structure located at the height of bath 122 of Riccione.
The artistic direction is in the hands of Maitre Anotonio Molin, which leads a group of seven artists of the Academy of Sand for its realization. The Academy of Sand is well-known in Romagna for the Christmas cribs built the last years on the beaches of the Rimini seaside.
The team of artists, since the beginning of works went available to organize guided tours for the schools and private groups, to explain the techniques of work, the project and the advancing work.
The Last Dinner of Sand will may be seen by public until 30 March, one of the many appointments, that Riccione offers to its visitors.
